Recent Residential Work:
Dering Harbor Residence-Shelter Island
This was a New Custom Residence designed by Ian Fairweather for a client who wished to have something in keeping with the traditional older homes in this unique area of the Incorporated Village of Dering Harbor which is on a north shore of Shelter Island.
The land was previously wooded with old growth hickories & beech trees and the scrub and undergrowth was removed taking care to protect the trees surrounding the proposed home & carriage house leaving a glade-like buffer of tall canopy and inviting filtered light.
The home is beautifully proportioned & inviting with great attention to details and finishes both inside & out. It is both warm and intimate while providing fabulous rooms for entertaining.
East Marion Waterfront Residence
Of this major makeover of a summer waterfront cottage into a lovely year round retirement home. This project had some serious lot coverage restrictions and to get the space needed the only way to increase the living space was to go up. Rob was able to give them the room they requested while adding the light and air with the correct placement of windows and doors to maximize the view while still providing the privacy needed for its proximity to neighbors. Renovation & Addition – by Robert Brown.
Orient Point LI Sound Waterfront
Rob designed this new residence with clients for summer use, with eventual retirement thoughts in mind. The Sound-front location and views are sensational with a Eastern Exposure facing Orient’s Lighthouse…It is sided in cedar shingles and has wonderful chimney pots that owners wanted to include on its 3 chimneys. The attached garage has extra sleeping room above to help make room for all their family’s visits, as it’s become a favorite place to stay. View Gallery >
Waterfront Shelter Island Home
This timeless classic was a new construction residence for a professional couple to use as their summer home & eventual retirement. It has classic lines outside with painted clapboard cedar siding with a wonderful open plan inside. The brick surfaced first floor eliminates the worries of tracking in sand & salt. It has an attached Garage above which the master bedroom suite is located. View Gallery >
